Feed Mixer & TMR Wagon Financing

Finance vertical or horizontal TMR mixers and feed wagons for cattle and dairy operations. Flexible payment timing, B/C credit considered, fast funding.

Total mixed ration feeding changed the economics of large livestock operations. Instead of feeding components separately and hoping cows sort their own ration, a TMR wagon or vertical mixer delivers a consistent blend to every animal in every pass. The consistency shows in milk production, dry matter intake, and body condition score over time. That is real money, and the wagon that delivers it is worth financing the right way.

We finance vertical and horizontal TMR mixers, stationary mixer-feeders, self-propelled feeding systems, and pull-type TMR wagons for dairy, beef, and sheep operations. Deals start at $50,000, with mid-size TMR wagons running from $60,000 to over $200,000 depending on capacity and drive type. Payment timing can fit the monthly cash flow pattern of a livestock operation that does not have the seasonal extremes a grain farm does.

TMR Mixer Types and Specifications

Feed mixer-feeders fall into two main mechanical categories: vertical auger and horizontal auger. Both deliver a thoroughly blended ration, but they do it differently and suit different feeding situations.

Vertical mixers use one or more large vertical augers that lift and blend material from the bottom up. They handle long, stemmy forages well and require less horsepower per ton of capacity than horizontal mixers of comparable size. Brands like Supreme International, Kuhn Knight, and Triolet build widely used vertical mixing wagons. Capacities range from compact 200-cubic-foot units for small herds up to 800 or 1,000-cubic-foot wagons for large feedlots.

Horizontal reel and paddle mixers use a horizontal auger or series of reels to blend ingredients. They are typically better at mixing dry concentrates and processed feeds uniformly and are preferred in operations that incorporate a high proportion of dry ingredients. Many are equipped with scales for accurate ration control, cross-conveyor unloading, and hydraulic chute adjustments.

Self-propelled feeder wagons, which combine the mixing function with their own drive system, are the choice for large dairies and feedlots where daily feed mileage is significant. They reduce tractor hours and operator time per feeding cycle and are a major capital investment that benefits from proper financing.

Scale systems on TMR wagons are a key technology feature. Accurate scales allow a consistent ration every day regardless of which employee is feeding, which is a direct production and health management benefit. Newer digital scale systems with recipe management software and data logging are common on current-generation wagons.

Getting Your Feed Wagon Financed

TMR wagon financing follows the same clean process as other farm equipment. For amounts up to about $400,000, a credit application and equipment details are the main requirements. Decisions come back in a few business days and funding on a completed-file timeline. Dealer purchases and private-party transactions both qualify.

Livestock operations typically receive income more evenly through the year than grain farms, which makes standard monthly payment structures straightforward. Dairies receiving milk checks twice monthly find that level payments fit the cash flow pattern well. Beef feedlots or cattle operations selling cattle periodically may prefer a structure that allows payments to coincide with cattle sales, which we can accommodate with a seasonal payment structure.

Farms that own a TMR wagon outright can consider a cash-out refinance to free up capital for other herd or facility investments. A well-maintained high-capacity mixer with a functional scale system retains value and is good collateral for a cash-out transaction.

We also finance used TMR wagons from a variety of sources. Farms that upgrade to a larger wagon and sell the old one, or operations that liquidate, put quality used mixers onto the market regularly. Used equipment financing covers these purchases.

Farm Refinance Questions

Yes. Larger transactions above $200,000 are handled similarly to smaller ones, though they may require a bit more documentation including some farm financial information. Application-only processing works up to around $400,000 for most deals.

A scale system upgrade alone may not reach our $50,000 minimum. If the scale upgrade is part of a broader wagon upgrade or a new wagon purchase, we can include it. For standalone scale installations below the minimum, we may not be the right fit.

A cash-out refinance on a recently purchased wagon is possible depending on the machine's current value and your overall credit picture. The closer to the purchase price the value still sits, the more we can typically work with.

Startup situations are considered on a case-by-case basis. A custom feeding business with contracted volume has a clearer case than a startup with no existing clients. Bring us your business plan and any letters of intent or contracts and we will tell you what we can work with.

Payment deferral due to an equipment breakdown is something we can discuss if it comes up. The right time to ask is before the payment is due, not after. Reach out to us directly and we will see what flexibility is available given the circumstances.
